About the Author

Thomas G. Townsend was born on the 24th of April 1981 and raised in central Victoria on a small farm. From the early age, Tom has shown great interest in computers and understanding complex systems, a passion still with him today. At the age of 17, he moved to Australia's capital city, Canberra, to study a Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Canberra, majoring in Sociology, Adult Education and Information Systems. While studying Tom began tutoring in web design and continued teaching through his Honors degree in Communications. This experience sparked his passion for IT yet again and he began working for the central IT department at the university while continuing to teach in the areas of IT Architecture and Security. Now a 10-year veteran at University of Canberra, Tom is now the Systems Manager, responsible for managing the server environment and data centre.
